The Euro banknotes are not only a significant means of payment within the European Union but also a tangible and visible symbol that we, especially during times of crisis, stand together in Europe.
In this project, together with my fellow students Joan Leonie Prange and Sara Suchantke, we focused on theoretically improving the Euro banknotes of the European Union through a new design. Our primary goal was to transform the banknotes into a symbol of unity and identification for the people in the EU without altering fundamental features like colors and size.
The result is a new series of Euro banknotes proudly featuring landmarks from each of the 27 EU member states. These banknotes are intended to represent the cultural diversity and cohesion of the EU. Importantly, we ensured that the banknotes remain easily recognizable and accessible for people with visual impairments.
We also added QR codes to the banknotes, leading to a special information page. Here, people can learn more about the EU in general and the landmarks depicted on the banknotes.
