"Hanfmade" is an innovative project that explores the production of biodegradable material using hemp-based research and implements it in the form of unique mushroom containers through robotic 3D printing. The core message lies in sustainable material use and the integration of mushrooms for environmental enhancement.
The concept behind "Hanfmade" merges the investigation of starch-based materials in conjunction with natural fibers for 3D printing and the cultivation of mushrooms. In collaboration with Joan Leonie Prange and Niklas Werner, we tested a large quantity of fibers in a short period. The results of our research series yielded the hypothesis that hemp is not only sustainable but also strengthens the developed material. Through robotic 3D printing, we created a decorative home accessory that not only supports the environment but also beautifies spaces. By enriching it with mushrooms, we hoped to make the good qualities of mushrooms usable for us and our environment. This unique project emphasizes the importance of sustainable materials and demonstrates how creative solutions can contribute to improving our environment.
This project was developed in collaboration with and under the leadership of the Materiability Research Group.
